Submit Your Great Tree

Ready to register your Great Tree? For the sake of consistency we’ve set out a few simple criteria and submission guidelines.  Please take a moment to read them through.

Submission Criteria

  1. The tree have to be alive – so no beach logs from English Bay.
  2. The tree has to be “a” single, identifiable tree – not a forest, nor a collection of trees.
  3. The tree has to be located in the public realm – on a city boulevard, street, park, right-of-way, etc., not your backyard. (Frankly, we’re not set on this one but the fact is we’re going to be encouraging people to visit the trees… so they have to be reasonably accessible).
  4. The tree has to be located within the City of Vancouver boundaries.  (Sorry Burnaby, sorry Richmond).

To submit an entry, please make sure to include:

  1. The location of the tree (try to be as specific as you can)
  2. One or two photos of the tree*
  3. A brief description (about 150 words) about why your tree is a Great Tree.
  4. Your full name and contact information
  5. Any other details that may help us to locate the tree (e.g. tree species, other identifiers, etc.)

Submissions can be sent electronically or by mail.

If you’re sending your submission by email, please ensure that your pictures are sent as .jpg files and are sized to be no more than 2-3 MB each.  Your details on the tree, why it’s great, contact information, etc. can be sent either in the body of the email, or as a separate .doc or ,rtf file.  Please no PDFs!  Send your submission to: GreatTrees [at] vancouverpublicspace.ca

If you’re sending your submission by mail, please post the photo(s) and necessary information to:  Great Tree Contest, c/o Vancouver Public Space Network, Box 2754, Station Terminal, Vancouver, BC, V6B 3X2
