Great Tree Map

One of the aims of the Great Tree initiative is to create a community map of everyone’s favourite trees.  To do this, we’ll be launching a Google map in the next couple of weeks (the map above is just a screen capture – so it’s not working quite yet!).

The map will interactive, so people who are familiar with the My Map feature in Google will be able to put their own point data on the map.  For those that aren’t familiar with this – not to worry, we’ll make sure that everyone’s Great Tree gets on the map.

Help us get the map right: a quick hint. When submitting your Great Tree, wherever possible, please make sure you provide good locational details about where the tree is located.  Err on the side of description.  I.e. “the boulevard in front of 2780 Main Street” is better than “Main, between X and Y.” Similarly, “the NW corner of New Brighton Park, beside the swimming pool” is better than “New Brighton Park.”
